PROJECT        SYSTEM upgrade

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

This project aimed to upgrade and ensure the functionality of all patient room TVs in the CCA (Critical Care Area) department of CEHHC. The project involved installing new operating systems, updating BIOS, addressing audio-related glitches, and enhancing the overall TV performance.

Project Objectives:

  1. Upgrade and ensure the functionality of patient room TVs in the CCA department.

  2. Install a new operating system on each TV to improve performance and security.

  3. Update the BIOS of each TV to ensure compatibility with the new operating system.

  4. Identify and rectify any audio-related glitches on the TVs.

  5. Ensure a seamless and user-friendly TV experience for patients and medical staff.

Project Tasks and Activities:

  1. Inventory Assessment (May 20-21, 2023):

    • Conducted a thorough inventory assessment of all patient room TVs in the CCA department.

    • Documented the make, model, and existing operating system of each TV.

    • Identified any TVs with audio-related glitches.

  2. Operating System and BIOS Update Preparation (May 22-24, 2023):

    • Procured necessary hardware and software for the operating system update.

    • Backed up all patient room TV data and settings.

    • Prepared a schedule to minimize disruptions for patients and medical staff during the update process.

  3. Operating System and BIOS Update (May 25-29, 2023):

    • Removed the hard drives from each TV and brought them to the IT office for the operating system update.

    • Installed a new operating system, ensuring compatibility with the TV's hardware.

    • Updated the BIOS of each TV to match the new operating system.

    • Conducted compatibility tests to confirm a successful update.

  4. Audio-Related Glitch Resolution (May 28-30, 2023):

    • Diagnosed and identified the source of audio-related glitches on affected TVs.

    • Resolved audio-related glitches, which included hardware repairs and software adjustments.

    • Conducted quality assurance tests to verify the effectiveness of the fixes.

  5. Functional Testing and Quality Assurance (May 1-2, 2023):

    • Ensured all TVs were functioning optimally with the new operating system.

    • Conducted a final round of testing to verify the absence of audio-related glitches.

    • Documented and validated the results to ensure patient and staff satisfaction.

Project Outcomes and Achievements:

  • All patient room TVs in the CCA department were successfully upgraded with a new operating system and BIOS.

  • Audio-related glitches were identified and resolved, resulting in a significant improvement in audio quality.

  • Patients and medical staff reported improved TV performance and user-friendliness.

Challenges and Mitigations:

  • Scheduling: Coordinating the TV upgrades without disrupting patient care required careful scheduling, but this was managed effectively to minimize disruptions.

Conclusion:

The CCA Department Patient Room TV Upgrade project was completed successfully, enhancing the functionality and user experience of patient room TVs. The project team ensured that all TVs were updated, audio glitches were resolved, and patients and staff benefited from improved TV performance.
